CDD honour senior citizens to commemorate the
International Senior Citizen Day.
Senior citizens from all over the country
attended a function held in honour of their contribution to the
community, Tuesday. The gathering was organized by the Community
Development Department in conjunction with the International Senior
Citizen Day that falls every 1st of October.
Present were the Minister of Culture, Youth
and Sports, Retired Major General Pehin Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Awang
Mohammad, the Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the
Ministry, the Director of Community Development Department and the
Brunei-Muara District Officer.
The Community Development Department
encourages senior citizens to keep active despite their age for their
own personal benefit and well being. The Senior Citizen Day is
especially observed to commemorate their contributions and services
toward nation-building aside from fostering closer ties among families,
the society and the government.
