Kg. Kupang now has its own Head Village

A gathering to nominate and appoint the new Ketua of Kampung Kupang in the Tutong District was held Friday.  The function took place at the Orang Kaya Ali Wanika Setia Diraja Primary School in Kampung Kupang.  

In his speech, the Acting Tutong District Officer, Awang Haji Jamain bin Momin amongst other urged the residents to vote wisely.  The Special Duties Officer at the Tutong District Office, Awang Haji Haizul Rizal when presenting the nominating and voting guidelines, urged voters to avoid default votes.  This, he said, was to ensure the process of selecting the ketua kampung was carried out accordingly.

Haji Awang Puasa bin Haji Kula is the only candidate nominated for the post of Ketua Kampung Kupang.  Aged 57 years, Haji Awang Puasa, was a retired personnel of the Fire and Rescue Department.  He is active in social and community activities.  The post of the Ketua Kampung Kupang has been left vacant since it was held by Awang Ramli bin Haji Salat.  Since then, Kampung Kupang was under the jurisdiction of Penghulu Mukim Keriam, Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Awang Haji Muhammad Taha bin Rauf.  At the voting, Haji Awang Puasa obtained one hundred and eighty one votes, one against and two default votes.
