Any party found to operate business
without valid license is liable to fine
Under the Minor Rules and Regulations of the
Municipal Board, it is an offence for a car workshop to make
modifications or alterations on a vehicle without written permission
from the authority concerned. The offence carries a penalty of
three-thousand dollars in fine. The issue was clarified at a briefing
on the rules and regulations for Miscellaneous License. The briefing
was attended by car workshop operators. Five government agencies
presented a number of working papers. The briefing also highlighted the
penalty for offenders.
According to the speakers, any party
operating a business without a valid license is liable to a fine of not
more than B$10,000. The talks tried to give a better understanding to
the workshop operators on the rules and regulations, in line with the
responsibility of the Law Enforcement Unit in implementing the Act
effectively.
