UBD’s faculty members must work
together in advancing institution
All University Brunei Darussalam’s academic
staff members are advised to find ways to further develop the university
especially in carrying out focused research and studies as advocated in
His Majesty’s titah at the UBD 20th Convocation recently. The
Vice-Chancellor of UBD, Dr. Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi made the
emphasis at an Assembly of Local Academic Force. Dr. Haji Zulkarnain
also spoke of three factors underlined in the UBD new curriculum that is
leadership innovation which every course is required to have; the second
is entrepreneurship which is expected to produce self-reliant
individuals, and the third is environment which emphasises on
sensitivity towards the surrounding and giving attention towards energy
conservation and finding new energy sources.
At the ceremony, two books and a journal
produced by the Brunei Studies Academy were launched. The Books on
Social Problems: Handling the Joint Responsibility and Excellent Native
Community, respectively, are from the seminar working papers, while the
Journal, “Janang” is the 9th produced by the academy. Presentation of
the Meritorious Teacher Award 2008 was also held and the recipient was
Professor Madya Doctor Hajah Zaiton binti Haji Mohamad Taha. At
present, there are more than 80 registered local academic staff. The
ceremony was held at the Jaya Setia Square in Berakas.
