St. George’s School celebrates its 70th
anniversary
Non-government organisations and private
education institutions are urged to come forward to assist the Ministry
of Education in realizing the mission and vision of the 21st Century
National Education System or SPN21 as it seeks to equip young Bruneians
with effective skills in the onset of globalization and the advancement
of a techno-generation.
The Director General of Education made the
remarks at Saint George’s School’s 70th Anniversary Celebration,
Wednesday. Dayangku Hajah Mastoli said as the country enters the era of
21st Century Learning and delivers effective education, training and
retraining; the SPN21 is an equally important strategy that education
and training institutions should undertake to survive in this highly
competitive industry.
Saint George’s School - one of the oldest
private schools in the country was established in 1937. Its facilities
and infrastructure have been upgraded over the years to better
accommodate the students. This year, the school achieved ninety-eight
percent passes in the Primary Evaluation Certificate Examination. The
school has about one thousand and twenty students. Over the years, the
school has produced high-calibre students who now occupy distinguished
positions both in the public and private sectors in the country.
